This weekly gentle and therapeutic yoga practice offers movement and helpful tips to feel nurtured and motivated.
Taught by:
Our theme is the affirmation "May time align to meet my needs". I find when I create an intention in the morning to have everything in my day align in perfect timing, I feel a better sense of flow. Sometimes magical moments even happen, that are simple, like walking into a building while someone is walking out, and the door is held and a smile happens that wouldn't have happened otherwise. During class, we move to lengthening the muscles in the legs, and strengthening the ankles to improve balance and stability.
Week 2) Balancing Comfort and Effort
This weeks yoga class we explore the inquiry “what’s my balance between comfort and effort? Is there ways in your yoga practice and in life where you can apply effort and if you do you’ll feel happier? Is there ways you put a lot of effort but maybe you’d be happier finding more comfort? We explore this on and off the mat.
Week 3) Intentional Relaxation
This class offers a guided theta mediation and progressive relaxation to calm the body while stretching.
Week 4) Grounding, Acceptance, Will Power, and Intuition
This class is a journey through movements that explore strengthening the legs, while keeping the shoulder and neck open and relaxed. The journey part is an intention to ground and center in the earths energy and have a better balance with how we stand in the world. We look at questions like, what are we willing to stand for? and do we give ourselves a choice for when to take a stand, and when not to? In our journey we practice using a symbol for choice. We do visualization to connect to the center of the earth and strengthen our will, and solar plexus then expand into the heart to lift our energies up and connect to our intuition.
Week 5) Standing Strong and Centered
Todays class we focus on the feet and legs, including lunges, hip openers, and stretching the top of the feet. Practice self-acceptance, be where you are. When something isn't possible for you, imagine and vision what it feels like. It builds a neuro-network educating your body on whats possible. Apply this to your life in our ending meditation. Envision where you want to be, and take a few moment to dream about possibilities.
Week 6) Everything is meant to be, when it is.
We start class with a deep relaxation meditation. Take an inventory of your energy level, your physical sensations, then practice walking meditation to warm up the body and connect the mind.
Week 7) Deep Low Back Release
Todays class is a floor practice, to free up tightness in the low back, strengthen the core, release the hamstrings and quads.
Week 8) A Full Class to Improve Yogi Squat, Malasana
Today's class is more of a workshop style class preparing the body for Yogi Squat - Malasana - While this pose is the inspiration for the class we are moving through a series of strengthening and stretching exercises for the hips, core and ankles to support this pose. Learning to squat is a primal movement and its in our innate physical wisdom as when we are infants we learn to squat as a part of walking.
Week 9) Seeing Clearly Connecting the Heart and Higher Mind
This weeks class is a combination of movements for our heart, communication center and mind. We start with an Ayurvedic Breathing practice, practice some somatic movements to release tightness in the neck and eyes, and then standing postures to create confidence and strength in the legs. We start with EFT Tapping with an affirmation for energy healing for the throat chakra.
Week 10) Getting Ready for the Day with Inner Child Yoga
Our Inner Family in Hooponopono Mindfulness is looking at the conscious mind as the mother self, the subconscious mind as the child self, and the higher or divine mind as being the father self. In today's class we start out with a guided meditation connecting to our inner family. In a way, connecting our conscious mind with our subconscious. Through the creative playful subconscious mind we connect to the divine or higher mind. In this way of meditation we look for phrases that include "I love you" "I'm sorry" "Please forgive me" and "I thank you" If there is something you're working on, learning or you have a question in life. This meditation connecting to the inner family and having conversation about it can be really helpful. Through our class we move, practice different postures for balancing strength and flexibility. As we flow we continue to connect to our inner child to move and prepare for the day.
